In India, according to National Disaster Management Guidlines of July 2007, Disasters are classified into different levels based on intensity as shown below.

Level 1 | District Level disaster | State/Centre will be ready to provide assistance |
Level 2 | State Level disaster | State level resource mobilisation |
Level 3 | Large scale disaster | State/District can't help themselves and require Centre's help for resource mobilisation |
